DUE DILIGENCE & SUITABILITY FRAMEWORK

Fund Selection & Suitability Policy

Principles guiding our scheme curation, suitability evaluation, and objective due diligence as an AMFI-Registered Mutual Fund Distributor.

Regulatory Foundation & Distributor Role

As an AMFI-Registered Mutual Fund Distributor (ARN-363616), Nimesh C. Shah provides execution-oriented mutual fund distribution services. In compliance with SEBI and AMFI circulars on distributor due diligence, we follow an objective, research-backed methodology to recommend suitable scheme categories that correspond with an investor's stated investment horizon and risk tolerance.

Non-Advisory Mandate: Distribution services are strictly execution-oriented under Regular Plans. We do not provide discretionary portfolio management or fee-based investment advisory under SEBI (Investment Advisers) Regulations, 2013.

Core Evaluation Framework

Six analytical pillars applied when reviewing mutual fund schemes

Risk-Adjusted Performance Across Cycles

Evaluating schemes across 3, 5, and 10-year rolling return windows spanning bull, bear, and consolidating market phases. Quantitative metrics including Sharpe Ratio, Standard Deviation, Sortino Ratio, and Alpha are analyzed against peer benchmarks.

Portfolio Quality & Investment Discipline

Scrutinizing asset allocation fidelity, market cap discipline, single-stock and sector concentration limits, and portfolio turnover ratios to ensure adherence to stated investment mandates.

Credit Quality in Debt & Fixed Income

For fixed income schemes, evaluating underlying sovereign, AAA, and AA allocations, modified duration, average portfolio maturity, and liquidity depth to safeguard against default and mark-to-market risks.

Total Expense Ratio (TER) & Cost Efficiency

Examining scheme expense structures within regulatory limits to ensure distribution fees and operating costs are competitive and reasonable.

Fund House Pedigree & Management Continuity

Reviewing institutional governance, investment committee independence, operational stability, research team depth, and fund manager track record.

Optimal Scheme Size & Liquidity

Ensuring scheme AUM is optimal—neither too small to pose redemption viability risk, nor overly large in small/mid-cap segments where capital deployment flexibility becomes constrained.

Suitability & Risk Profiling Parameters

Before recommending mutual fund categories, we assess:

  • Time Horizon: Matching short-term liquidity needs with money market/liquid funds and long-term milestones (> 5-7 years) with equity and hybrid categories.
  • Risk Tolerance: Understanding client willingness and capacity to endure market volatility in line with official scheme Risk-o-meter ratings.
  • Liquidity Requirements: Identifying emergency corpus needs versus lock-in constraints (e.g. ELSS tax-saving funds).
  • Asset Allocation Balance: Avoiding over-concentration across single sectors, AMCs, or speculative thematic schemes.
